My laboratory is working on textured (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-based piezoelectric ceramics. We are using XRD and the Lotgering factor to characterise the degree of texture in our ceramics. The original Lotgering equations compare the intensity of the (00l) peaks to all the other peaks in the XRD pattern. When we calculate the Lotgering factor it seems very low, even though our XRD patterns show a high degree of texturing. Our ceramics have a tetragonal unit cell and we see (100)/(001) peak splitting. In this case, should we compare the intensity of the (h00 + 00l) peaks to all the other peaks in the XRD pattern?
