For classification of vegetation habitats in the intertidal zone of the waddensea area in Northern Germany I need a reliable tool to identify seagrass and other vegetation. The basic approach is to work only on those scenes with low tide and then to use the NDVI. Unfortunately the results are not satisfying, supposedly because there's still too much humidity/water within the wadden soil.

I am not an expert in this, but if I recall, the author has encountered the same problem as yours and has used the MSAVI.

If your study area is not evergreen vegetation community, i.e there is seasonality, then time series analysis may be helpful. It is clear that, start of season (SOS), growing season length (GSL) and end of season (EOS) differ in one to another species. You may even find experimental time-based indices for vegetation classification in this study are.
