Does anybody have any experience in this field? I have a gammaproteobacterium and its genomic sequence and can see genes of type 1 fimbriae. I tried to agglutinate the yeast. The yeast agglutinated, but it took quite a long time (an hour or so) and it did not look exactly like the pictures on the internet. The agglutination occurred even with the addition of 4% D-mannose. Is that an ok result? Should type 1 fimbriae be mannose-sensitive, or not?
Any suggestions for how to characterize it better? Is it possible that agglutination might be caused by other bacterial structures or chemicals? This bacteria does form a biofilm.
