Because the original Shutdown Solution for the FACS Canto is only containing water and some preservative we were wondering if we can safe money and replace it against something selfmade. What can we use that is hazard-free for the environment after autoclaving, non-smelling, colourless and not corrosive for the pipes?

I'll start by saying that I don't have a canto.
However, I've known people to use sterile water for the shutdown solution. As long as the system is used (and cleaned) regularly, there shouldn't be an issue.
Distilled water is perfectly fine for the shutdown buffer for the Canto. I've used it for more than 5 years and have had absolutely no problems. No need to waste your money buying their solution. Good luck!
