A lot of media reports and people especially in the USA have complained about fracking and its impact on health through spillage, water contamination and pollution. However, I couldn't find any scientific reports on the impact. Does anyone have an idea on where to find one?
Fatima - here in the US, "fracking" is controversial. People who claim it is safe cite studies, people who claim it is unsafe cite other studies. Here are two URLs that make that point - but as you said, no one actually points *directly* to the study to prove their point :-(

Many who support fracking see it as a way to alter the US' dependence on foreign suppliers for petroleum. Many who oppose see it as yet another way to continue the dependency on carbon burning fuels, rather than investing in solar/wind/renewables. Unfortunately, there is a lot of politics involved.

Unfortunately it is only in German, but it gives a good overview but with only few practice content because fracking is not common in Germany.
An interesting issues is that Exxon has publicized the content of fracking fluid the use in Germany.

In Northern Germany, the pipes have been made of PVC or other Plastics, and all polymers are subject to vapor and/or liquid diffusion processes. As a consequence, the groundwater around the pipe has been contaminated with benzene from inside, without any leakage!
Therefore, if the pipes do not have a metal inliner, after years all toxic substances will diffuse into surrounding groundwater or soil vapor.

I do believe that the topic is of main concern: in Italy and Spain recent events makes people very alarmed. It`s time to ask Europe Community to dedicate funds for indipe ndent research activities, before allowing private companies to use the environment simply as a market tool.
If you are hoping to illustrate (visually) what your research is undoubtedly indicating, there was a television "white paper" report in the U.S. several years ago about fracking, that showed the near-immediate results...such as the pooling of highly contaminated water in people's back yards. It really got attention, whereas written descriptions took longer to effect fewer. Good luck!
