Could you please provide me some information regarding the nitrogen-based bio-carriers which have used in the MBBR process. What are the main differences and possible advantages of this kind of bio-carriers in comparison with the conventional anox kaldness media (such as K2,K3)?
The results from the full-scale implementations are most preferred.

I am not complely sure what you mean with Nitogen Based Carriers, have never heard of it, but maybe you are thinking of some of the work done on Zeolite that adsorbs Ammonia and the it will be regnerated by an active biofilm like i.e

Thank you so much for your valuable contribution. Recently I heard about nitrogen-based bio-carriers which is applicable in the MBBR process. As I know, using this type media may enhance the biofilm growth in the process and thus the removal efficiency will be increased. Based on the major microbial community in the MBBR process, it seems that media with based on nitrogen could be more suited. Would you please tell me which type of media you have been used for your projects?

A MBBR, by definition, uses a submerged free moving plastic biofilm carrier. There has been work investigating substratum that acts as an electron acceptor/donor. I specifically refer to sulfur based denitrification. The effectiveness of a nitrogen based carrier depends on the compound. In any event, it would not prove cost effective to introduce a substratum into a waste stream that is already laden with nitrogenous materials.
