Spurge laurel (Daphne laureola) is a toxic understorey species of decidous forests. I expect this species to be toxic to wild mammals as well, for instance in Montedimezzo forest (Central Italy), there is a small corral hosting some Roe deers (artificially fed by the personnel of the reserve) where no understorey species survived except some specimen of Daphe laureola. Is this species toxic to wild boar as well? Does anybody know of any studies testing this?
