I would like to measure the amount of IL-5 produced in different mouse strains by using a standard ELISA assay, but I'm not sure if it is detectable in the serum of healthy animals and/or under parasite infection.
Does anybody have an answer or can suggest me a relevant paper/review/book where I can find it?

Dear Vincenzo, there are a lot of ELISA kits for determination of Mouse serum/plasma IL-5 amount.
e.g
Abcam
Raybiotech
Cusabio
Biolegend
Anogen
....
The assay sensitivity of the kits are between 5 to 10 pg/ml in generally, so you can conclude that the serum level of IL-5 in mouse is higher than 10 pg/ml.
in some published papers mouse serum IL-5 was between 20-40 pg/ml approximately.

We have already an ELISA kit from R & D. It works fine, but so far we used it only with culture SN.
