I have searched on this gate but knowbody seems to have it. The only thing I have found hee was that the dept of the storage was very important. I am looking for a method to storage a VFA sample of a anaerobic digestion and keep the same amount of VFA the same over the period of storage.
In my oppinion you may sample the slurry in a vacuumed plastic bag and freeze the bag at temperatures of max. -18deg.C since freezing will not change the chemical composition of the sample, therefore VFA level will not be affected. But you should take into account that freezing will kill all the fermentative microorganisms. It is not possible to continue the fermentation after defrosting the sample if not add inoculum. This mix would evidently change the composition of the initial sample, also the level of VFA.
Carmen, my intention of freezing a sample was only determining the VFA combination and concentration. Reuse this sludge wasn't the plan. Thank you Carmen.
