What information do you need to collect from this assay? I mean, if you want to know whether the membranes are fluid or not, Py-Py* assay is a good methodology, once Pyrene is a good probe for viscosity
Pyrene forms excimers when 2 or more molecules are close enough. The emission of Py and Py-Py* it's different in shape and position (Wavelenghts can be easily found online). What you need to know is that if the membrane is fluid, then the molecules are not so close together, then the emission changes.
