Non-communicable diseases are currently a more critical global epidemic in terms of burden of disease and cost, than most infectious diseases. So I'm wondering about models of utilizing the facilities, labs, consult rooms. providers, community health workers, who have heroically and effectively managed HIV and other infectious diseases, to put more effort toward a more upstream approach to chronic disease management.

I don't have access to the literature or models as I have not been involved in the field of public health before, but it is one of the reasons that brought me to this point of Public Health engagement - seeing the change and success in infectious disease management and saying it can be done with NCDs as well! will follow responses with interest and also speak to colleagues that have worked in Health systems strengthening and HIV management to see if they can share.
