So I have some parameters in my VUMAT which require the total simulation time (which is entered in the step module in Abaqus, under "Time Period") - however I cannot find an easy way to import this into my VUMAT, other than defining a dummy material parameter which is equal to the time period...
steptime and totaltime are passed to VUMAT as aguments, so you can simply use them. (See manual)
Yes, you are right. But they specify the current step-time (or total time) at the time which the VUMAT is called - I want the final simulation time that the simulation will run for. For example, I want to simulate for 2s; then stepTime and totalTime will iterate according to dt from 0 to 2s - however in my VUMAT I have no idea of knowing the final time is 2s. Hope that made sense.
Indeed, your question is how to determine whether the calculation is completed or not. You may give the total time as one of the input constants defined in Property Module, which will be passed to the VUMAT. Therefore, you only have to make this value consistent with the step time or total time. I hope this may help.
OK, that is what I currently do - I treat the final time as a material parameter. Thanks anyway.
