Sensitivity is critical (if you have good quality and quantity of DNA no problem) but for HLA typing "specificity" is the most important. So HLA typing with luminex is widely used in accredited diagnostic labs.
Do you mean testing for anti HLA antibodies for organ transplant using Luminex? There are many different assays to do this on the Luminex platform and each has its own limitations. However, the Luminex single antigen assay is generally considered the most sensitive platform for anti HLA antibody detection. However, it is good to be aware of its limitations namely - reports of prozone phenomenon, and questionable representation of alleles/antigens from minority populations in its panel.
