Spiritual intelligence is spiritual receptivity to metaphysical signals; this gift is not limited to people of one religion alone. The Uncaused Cause gifts men with spiritual intelligence primarily for them to become a bridge between the mundane and the spiritual, thereby feeling the pains of humanity as it flows from spiritual sources. Therefore, people with spiritual intelligence are not only humanistic, they are more humane in their approach to humanity than others.
I feel uncomfortable with a term like "spiritual intelligence>" Who would be able to say they are, or someone else might be carrying a higher spiritual intelligence than another? Such a hierarchy might lead to a superior sense of being or presence among others? Thinking out loud
I want to thank you for the opportunity to answer your question to the best of my limited knowledge. As I reviewed your background, I have a sense of where you are coming from, at least I think so. To begin with, is seems appropriate to address some of the previous answers. Specifically, the definition of "Spiritual Intelligence".
Robert Emmons defines spiritual intelligence as "the adaptive use of spiritual information to facilitate everyday problem solving and goal attainment." I will have to assume that more specifically, you want an answer that relates to higher education or at least education in general.
Spiritual Intelligence: This implies that we all recognize that there is a higher power than us. This also implies that this higher power is much more intelligent than we are. Being able to quantify this becomes challenging. In practical terms, this means that we have received information from this higher power and have learned how to relate this information to others. This is why we have respect for those that reveal these truths to us. I believe the truth is that this supernatural power can come from two separate forces. One that is working for good and one that is working for evil. It is on this premise that I will answer your questions.
More cooperative: Cooperation implies unity with diversity. Respecting everyone's point of view and following the most logical and beneficial conclusion for everyone involved. (This must include the impact on the present as well as the future) This is where the spiritual insight must be applied. Unfortunately, spiritual leaders have been influenced by both forces of the supernatural. (Good and evil) When you open yourself up to one of these realms you also open yourself up to the other as well. There are some specific differences that are easy to detect. If it is good, the signs will be; good conduct and gentleness that is not controlling. Your thoughts will include planning for the future and eternity. If it is evil, then it will first be controlling, self interested and only thinking of the current conditions and how they relate to the now. It will also be violent and cohesive, trying to manipulate others to achieve their goals. The simple answer is yes, if they are influenced by good. Also, no, if they are influenced by evil.
Humanistic: From a psychological perspective that deals with habits, actions and motives of human beings, Spiritual Intelligence adds great depth to this understanding. Typical humanistic understanding removes the spiritual and focuses only on the human qualities and influences. (The focus is only on self) Spiritual insight reveals that there are other forces working around us and not everything is in our control. This exposes the truth that we are part of a larger plan that is supernatural and out of our control. With this understanding, we can accept that many of the motives, actions and activities that we do are influenced by forces of evil or forces of good. (There is a supernatural influence on every person's life.) Understanding this influence and how it works, can only be understood by spiritual insight.
Adjustable: Current neuroscience informs us that the brain is capable of change, this is known as neuroplasticity. Spiritual identity can influence this either negatively of positively. Sorry the answer is yes and no. Out of space to answer why.
Yes. However it is not a mechanical issue. The Christian believer always has the model of service of Jesus, and has the resources, such as prayer, celebration, full interiority that we send him, call him and move him to serve.
