We use parlodion to embed whole mouse/rat brains, but lately we haven't been able to find it with our old vendor (Fisher), and it's also not available through Avantor or Sigma. I'm starting to think there are new shipping regulations against US shipment of nitrocellulose. We are looking for either solid strips or a solution at least 12% in ethanol/ether. Any tips?
Maybe try SPI http://www.2spi.com/catalog/msds/msds02465.html. I hope this helps, but I am not sure about shipping regulations. I am afraid I did not find etoh/ether sol.
We get a lot of our microscopy supplies from EMS. Looks like they have parlodion , but only 2% in amyl acetate. Will this work?
Thanks for the links, George and Simon! 2% is too low for us, but we just bought the handful of jars that SPI had in stock. From talking to them, it seems like Parlodion is being discontinued in general. We might have to change how we do things around here...
