I do understand that some journals do publish short stories. I have a piece of creative non-fiction, about 900 words, which I would like to submit for publication. Do you know how I can go about looking for the right journal for this kind of work? Or do you know any journal that accepts this kind of work?

In case you have more stories and voluminous enough to run 100 pages or more than publish it as an individual book. If you want a publication in a journal than, you can review publications in line with your writing with others so that it can become a research too.

I know little of this area I do know if it's academic fiction with a psychological basis in that it's for children to address a problem or something they have difficulty understanding such as loss and separation then you can do a journal on a product or book you develop which would be academically viable to test and bring to a master's you would need a few children's groups or a group of people in childhood studies to test prototype and then analyse findings also psychologists social workers and child specialists for feedback purposes and to demonstrate viability as I had a friend who developed a product for her thesis and it was pretty much what she done developed a book God a copy printed animation and all also bound. It won an academic award first prize from within a social care perspective in Dublin.

Till now i have no idea about this.
My University (Panjab UNiversity, Chandigarh) also publishing some journal related to Social Science and other subjects. So i will talk about this if you provide the details of related subject matters of your creative non-fiction.

You don't give any details about your field or topic, but there is definitely a place out there for academic fiction. I wrote 2 pieces for Times Higher Education that parodied the conference and publication practices we have in academia. They were fiction, but reflected current issues.
If you have a 'message' to get out, then some of the magazines and professional journals have very wide readerships & reach large audiences, OK - they might not have impact factors, peer review (beyond editorial review) etc., but are they definitely a way to attract more attention to an issue.
In my own experience, they are also challenging but fun to write. All to often we get hung up with writing dry pieces that few will read. It also is a process that is about writing for an audience, and not necessarily for ourselves. Writing short stories is a very different approach and helps to remind us that we are human - you can be serious, without being ... serious ;-)
