Factors that influence friction angle include grain sorting, grain size, and grain angularity. The soil's friction angle is affected by coarse-grained material. Accordingly, sandy soils with bigger particle sizes record a higher friction angle than soils containing small particles.
Frictional angle & cohesion together defines strength of rocks. In the previous answer Mr Hadi Jabbar rightly explained, frictional angle depends on the texture of rock and cohesion is "how the rock constituents are bonded together."
