I need a limited size SVP sensor (max dim. = 30*30*30 mm) for using sonar up to 70 meter depth. This sensor gives the exact velocity of sound in ocean exploration practices.
It would be very challenging to get all of the processing electronics into that volume - must it be that small? I imagine a hand-built SVP (Teensy JR, PZT, thermistor, SD card) would be around 100mm x 30mm x 30mm, and would need external power.
Smallest I know is Valeport UV-SVP. 140 mm long by 63 mm diameter. I suppose you've already looked at these? They (or you) could customise. About 35 mm of length is the cable entry gland unit. James Garry's minimum dimensions seem about right - a basic circuit board would be about 100 mm and the SV unit about 30 mm diameter - but I suppose you could build a stacked board and customise everything.
