I am interested in separating peptides based on their cystein residues and looking for commercial product for this purpose. It would be better if it can be done using magnetic beads or affinity cartridges with functional group on their surfaces (like activated thiol).

Would it be OK to produce a reversible adduct specifically for the cysteines and then purify on that basis?

I believe this was a custom resin when I planned to use it but never did try it due to several company confidential reasons. There were other strategies applied involving organo-mercurials for reversible binding and reversible charge changes for vastly improved ion exchange alpha value through the use of oxidized sulfur adducts. You might want to review the literature for these different strategies for your application because my application was in a different area at the time.
