I am considering buying a feed formulation software that could be used for teaching as well as animal experiments for both ruminants and monogastric species. Do you have any suggestions for this?
2. Winfeed, has a demo version that is completely functional, the commercial version is not expensive. The software looks basic, but it has stochastic feed formulation capabilities.

3. AminoCow (for dairy), free software you only need to register online and get a code to install it. http://www.nittanydairynutrition.com/App_Content/aminocow.aspx
4. Several "old" software that run on MS-DOS that you can still found with colleagues. This software can be use trough an application called DOS-BOX (MS-DOS emulator). If anyone need help with this please contact me.
TAURUS, beef cattle ration formulation (NRC)
PCDAIRY, dairy cattle ration formulation (NRC)
SPARTAN, dairy cattle ration formulation (NRC with modifications)
UFFDA, multi-species, need to enter all information (feeds, requirements)
For teaching are a very good option, and under some condition you still can use at professional level.
5. FeedLive 1.51, commercial software that is not too expensive, can be used for ruminants and non ruminants. It's a very simple but useful program. It has a demo version valid for 30 days.

Hello, for teaching I like to work with excel spreadsheets with the solver option, if you have interest I can send some examples for you. Best regards,
I have designed some excel files related to broiler, sheep and cow which is so easy, but if you want, I have to translate to English. You can also find them on my page.
During my Master's, we used Brill Formulation software. I worked as an Animal Nutritionist in the Philippines, and one of the biggest feed companies still uses Brill.
Consider learning to formulate using linear programming tools and, if possible, multiobjectives. This will achieve excellent results in terms of satisfaction of the animal's requirements, at the cost of the formula and at the optimal use of available resources.
Hi, we used a lot NRC 2001 in my bachelor and master studies, it is very good software for dairy cattle nutrition. Also, for pigs we used software Eva pig. Both of them you can find online with no limitations.
Good academic software for ruminants (cattle in the first place) is CNCPS, and for sheep and goat SRNS (small ruminant nutrition system). Both of them are developed in the Cornell University and there is only trial versions for free. After trial period, you have to pay to use these softwares.
For poultry feed formulation, I recommend BRILL. However, this is a pretty expensive software. currently, I am using excel to formulate diets and it works really good.
No need to download or any installation, using any kind of device (Laptop or smart phone), or OS (Windose, Mac, android, ios or ...), just go to https://jirenevis.com/poultry and formulate feeds poultry needs!!
Please let us have your comments to develop it more.
