Do You have any idea about the problem of Paraffin based PCM after prolonged heating?

I heated C14-C16 based PCM materials at 142 Degree C for a few hours, I observed that carbon formed over the PCM materials. The boiling point of the PCM materials is around 310 Deg C. Anybody can share any experience on carbon formation of PCM, and how to overcome this?
