I am studying optimal harvesting potential in Schima-Castanopsis and Shorea robusta forest in tropical climatic condition of Nepal. But I do not have growth models for these forests to use for making realistic estimation for harvesting level. So, if any of you have such research papers, reports ot reference on this topic, please let me know.
I'd be surprised if growth models for these forests exist. However, you may be able to reconstruct past growth from tree rings in Schima. Castanopsis is a bit more difficult, although some species are better than others. This would be a good way to have a first approximation of a quantitative growth model for the dominant species in this forest type. For details of the tree rings see Xing et al (2012) Trees 26:283-290.
If you have some re-measurement data (at least measured for 3 times) for those tree speices, then growth rate can be estimated. This growth rate could be adjusted with the allometric equation of those species. Once you obtain the models with the minimum to maximum dbh and height ranges of those species, you can easily estimate optimal harvesting.
