I’m working on population genetic structure analysis using ddRAD sequencing, where fish are caught at sea and sampled several hours later. Given the importance of genomic DNA quality for even coverage in reduced representation sequencing, I’m looking for the best method to preserve muscle tissue before DNA extraction.

Is ethanol preservation sufficient, or would solutions like DESS (Dimethyl Sulfoxide, Disodium EDTA, and Saturated NaCl) be better? Or do you have other recommendations for long-term storage of tissue for NGS? Any insights would be appreciated.
