As says Rodrigo, there is indeed a rich literature on the family company perennial, or even multi-seculaires (Henokiens: bicentenary family business).

Can you clarify your research question?

you may want to contact STEP scholars to see if some hot new stuff is coming out; in the STEP there is an on-goin repository of outstanding case studies.

Dear Ewa, you could look at the work of business historians like Colli in Italy ("The History of Family Business), David Landes in the US ("Dynasties"), Harold James ("Family Capitalism"). We have written a case at INSEAD on the Wendel family which has been in business for over 300 years (by Van der Heyden and Blondel), and there is also an INSEAD working paper on the Henokiens by Ludo Van der Heyden and Morten Bennedsen.

Significant information is available on the Medicis family. Until recently, researchers in the domain of social science have attempted unsuccessfully to explain the long term success of the Medicis in Italy. But recently, some academic has used network theory to unravel the simple functioning rules used by the Medicis, and which according to him represent the critical success factors. You may find the references in the internet.

You may get a lot of PhD thesis, research papers and books on Indian Small Scale Industries and Cottage Industries in India. You may also refer www.shodhaganga.com and council of iIdian social science research.

Dear Ewa, at the moment there are not any case studies from before the year 1990. Maybe in some articles it is possible to find some information about some older family companies, but not some complete study.

I have done research on all family firms, when they where established, but most of them were set up afrer year 1990. Don't hesitate to contact me for some futher cooperation. Maybe this topic is a way for our futher cooperation in some international university projects. I have organized several university projects and projects from practice ( with PWC and KPMG) but all of them where connected with present situation in FB, also focused generally on FB in Skovakia.
