Do you agree with the statement 'Shyness commands respect' ?

Think premature to comment merely based on the above statement.  Perhaps more information is needed.  E.g. sometimes some Subject Matter Experts (SME) / knowledgeable people feel shy before the crowd who can deserve certain respect vs others who are incompetent & shy etc.

A very interesting question, I think, with no simple answers. Sometimes shyness command respect, sometime it is just the opposite. In certain people and in certain circumstances shyness commands respect. In other circumstances, it is generally discouraged and frowned upon. To sort all that out would take quite a lot of doing, though it is a question worth thinking about--in my experience. 

Let me put it this way, the shy should not and do not always allow themselves to be disregarded. Understanding this requires some study of the famous and shy.

Love commands respect

No,  I don't agree.  However, it depends  on the circumstances. If it's regarding the opposite sex,  it might but remember it can also bring irritation.

If it's in the form of actually buying time to think through an appropriate response during a conversation, probably.  But  remember this doesn't bring respect in the long run.  What brings respect is maturity displayed in the form self control. 

Well Dickson , that is not real at least here in the America , people who speak (sense or non-sense) are labeled are "smart " etc etc.

So if we are introverts and are shy then there is not way in which we can express . No I do not mean respect or not that is another story ...

I would say it is fundamental decency to respect every one ...

I think if you're shy in general but only speak when you have something quite profound to say, your demeanor commands respect as someone who's slow to speak and quick to listen. But if when you speak you don't have anything profound to say, your demeanor fails to command any respect.
