Yes, I thinh that we still need attachment theory as elaborated by J. Bowlby and M. Aisnworth. The types of attachment they identified are now more appropriate than when they were first concetualized. It suffices to say that now in many families both parents work and hence they pass more time away from their children. The unsecure type is likely to me now more common than it was the case at the time of both Bowlby and Ainsworth. Fortunately, there are now many care day centers that take care of children in a warm environment.
