In general, if a person is rational, calm and content with the status quo, that is a good foundation for happiness. What leads to unhappiness in general is craving for what one does not have, , looking outside rather than looking within, greed, inability to reframe situations and perhaps blame oneself or feel less than good about oneself, and so on. It does not mean that the person should not have dreams or goals or aspire for a better life - health-wise or wealth-wise, but it is the process by which ones goes about it that would define the journey as being pleasant or not.
