Inspite of the freedom to expression which is the fundamental right of a human being, the Social media of internet is policed and regulated.
The invisible road for information is not free. The Internet Police, on their official microblog, warn social media users to stick to official reports, under the pretext that there would be "zero tolerance for creating rumors." and websites would be made inaccessible.
MATURE ADULT DON'T NEED OTHERS TO TELL THEM WHAT THEY CAN READ AND SEE but there is No opt-out option from filtered Internet.
If regulation is manadatory then on what areas and how should information flow be checked, controlled and delivered

Nearly every company has been actively hacked or could easily be hacked. Our personal and financial information is stolen multiple times a year. Nation-states are hacking the world's biggest companies and revealing all of their emails and data. Ransomware is locking up our personal details and asking for money.
Sadly, our traditional law enforcement agencies can't do much to fight Internet crime, for a number of reasons.

Yes, we definitely need internet policing. Internet freedom does entail that you can do what you want, and say what you want online, there must be a confined freedom, not an absolute freedom. Porn, hacking, flaming, slandering, etc. all these acitivities must be taken uder control, only in this way can we guarantee the freedom of the law-abiding general populance.

.......Like the Antispam vendors, the Internet police could help update everyone's antispam filters to block future spam from the same origin or in the same format. It's would be difficult for the spammers to stay in business when their millions of spams are blocked........
There is already internet policing on some "classified" issues. There is already a backdoor for each PC on earth & some "agencies" can monitor any PC's activity besides knowing its authentic IP & its exact location. These agencies can pinpoint any one using a PC & they can cause a blackout or crash of a PC. If they want to target hackers & thieves, they can do so but it is not a top priority for them unless it becomes so dangerous for the establishment to tolerate.
It seems to be important to have internet policing to protect privacy
I agree with @ Nizar that every internet connected device can be monitored either by the service provider or in case of networks by the service administration through virtual monitoring.
All these are protection to the end user from falling prey to risks or hacking. There need not be any undue fear if people are within the bounds and aware of socially acceptable norms.

Privacy is normally invaded when enough caution is not executed when the user is unaware of protection controls in applications as well as the access options and security settings.
It is necessary to stop cyber crimes such as hacking, online thefts and scams, encroachments to individual privacies etc. Internet should be free from threats and everybody can use internet without fear and the feeling of insecurity. At the same time, cyber policing should not curtail individual rights for using internet.
It is also important to protect those impressive young minds who may innocently get into undesirable activities on the Internet out of curiosity and need for attention.

Dear Krishnan, very important issue. Internet is free area for all kind of people. When there is cyber primes, some regulations are needed, But, we should take into account that full elimination is difficult.

So, OK I guess mods are internet police in a sense but I mean on a global scale. Can the internet be policed? should it be? Where should virtual lines be drawn?
I've been thinking about this more and more with whats been happening with the game industry in the past year or so. There are some outspoken people out there along with people that are looking for something to follow. The internet gives those people a voice and a place to belong and that's fantastic but there is a huge grey area tucked away in a corner somewhere that every now and then peeks its head out and yells "boo!" and disrupts productive discussion and discourse. I'm not talking about trolling or anything like that just obvious abhorrent behavior.
