Yes research should be to change the lives of our communities for the better directly or indirectly, some research have direct applications that changes our lives quickly, others may be not have large impact but cant be neglected.

First, i have to admit that serving the community is the duty of each citizen, and i think it's important for each research to have a goal, but it doesn't have to be directly applicable. Because if it is the case, many researches and sciences are going to be abandoned.

The aim of research is to come up with a finding that ill benefit society. If it does not then the effort is just academic. The other option is to look at so much "pure" research out there and see if one can find any practical application for any of those, thus benefiting the society still.

The research can be categorized into: theoretical research and applied research. Theoretical research studies how the universe is made and how it works, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large. The primary objective of theoretical research is to discover the laws of nature and to parameterize them. Applied research uses the natural law of fire to use heat to cook, to warm up, to travel, etc. Applied research cannot do without theoretical research. A particular theoretical research that today seems insignificant and useless tomorrow could prove very useful.

The aims of scientific research to solve the problem that faces Mankind, in the Agricultural field, research is applicable to improve agriculture production.

Scientific research should be applied research, so scientific research was defined as a work creative, systematic and practically.

Much of published research is for academic qualification purposes to obtain an office. Unpublished research is done for 'defense' purposes. In the next decades, this pattern will most probably change to more practical applications, human welfare and well-being included. We are in need of a better didactics of scientific methodology, creative writing and labor methods to reach the level of communitarian benefit (win/win models of applied science).

Basic research does not solve problems, but the objective of applied research is to change the life of the communities of humans for the better. To my view, there are research that have direct impact or application on a community or society while there are research that have predictive information that could help prevent some dangereous situation like Coronavirus. I came across an information on social media showing that researchers made some research and alerted that a possibility of re-emergence of coronavirus was possible. Some research are oriented into revealing preliminary information that will further lead into an application. However, I also think that research published in scientific journals are limited only to educated people..... There is a gap between researchers and the community

It is very good Question. It is known that research should have it is applications in the community. In the progressive countries the research it self comes from the studying of the community needs. Then it is currying out in cooperation with the community institutions. But. In developing countries the story is different. A lot of researcher choose their topic only by reading the previous literature and choose a problem sometimes it is not so important enough to take such time and effort.
