I am checking the stabilitty of nanoparticles and found out that the more modifications i make on the surface of MNPs, the faster they oxidize on air. Is it normal?
nano particles of magnetite have sometimes Fe2+ located on both octahedral and tetrahedral sites in the spinel structure. The Oh Fe2+ are easier to oxidize than Td Fe2+ (see for instance the attached file). Perhaps the "modifications" you done, change the cationic distribution in the particles by favoring the proportion of Fe2+ ions in octahedral sites. The change in cationic distribution gives also a change in lattice constant and saturation magnetization. Mossbauer spectroscopy could give also interesting information on Fe2+ cationic distribution.
