Hello all,
I am working with tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) as a photosensitizer for a project. While its excitation wavelength in literature is 405 nm, I only have access to a 365 nm lamp in my lab. Will this lamp work effectively if I increase the time of irridiation?

Hi,
you should check the absorption spectrum of your photosensitizer and the emission spectrum of your lamp. The absorption/emission is usually not tied to a strictly single wavelength but appears across a specific range with varied intensity. The better overlap there is, the better efficiency you get. Also, note that the absorption alone is not a guarantee of photoactive properties. You could check it, for instance, by photolysis (attached). You may refer to our other paper for more information.
