Do I have to coating thin film of cadmium oxide by gold to take image by SEM ?

I used electrodeposition method to prepare cadmium oxide, I want to make SEM for it. i asked someone about that , he told me should make coating by gold on the cadmium oxide to get image of it .

is it true or not ?

Yes, you must coat samples with coat gold to minimize

sample charging effects due to the electron beam.
