Gum acacia is edible gum which you can utilize.

Cochlospermum religiosum coomonly known as Katira gum also can be utilized.

Gum acacia can act as adhesive without any additions.

Just dilute it up to certain consistency with water and apply it as adhesive.

Drying time is slightly more which is concern in operations

are some terrestrial plant extracts that you can try.

5. Carageenin

6. Algin

7. Agar

are some frequently used algal extractions for such purposes in the food industry.

8. Carboxy methyl celluose (CMC) can be used for such purposes as well.

All of above have adhesive properties, that are condition (pH, media..etc) dependent. You may have conduct a series of experiments with your substrate to select the most suitable one for your purpose.

P.S.: All above food gums are edible; neither of them are digested in human digestive tract. Hence, are excluded with fecal matter. Most of them are dietary fiber types; that can ease the bowel movements as well, but impact is minuscule because all of them are to be added in minute amounts in food production.
