I am trying to synthesize core-shell nanoparticles which contain temperature responsive core(it has LCST around 32 ° C). Also the shell has no temperature response. During DLS measurements at different temperatures(25 °C to 45 °C) i see that at first lets say 30 °C the size of the particles getting smaller significantly but then at higher temperatures (35 °C, 40 °C) the size values that i obtained, are getting bigger. I diluted the sample but it did not work well.
Do you have any idea for overcoming this issue ?
Interesting puzzle. I assume the particles were suspended in saline when you took these measurements. What kind of shell are you using? Did you see any evidence of agglomeration of particles at higher temperatures? As you know, temperature will affect the DLS measurements due to its effects on Brownian motion. If I were you, I will approach the instrument manufacturer for technical advice. Are you using a Zetasizer (Malvern)?

I prepared 0.01M NaCl solution and dispersed the particles at 1% (w/w) in the solution then diluted it with distilled water. Normally it works for temperature responsive nanoparticles that i obtained, but for now it does not work well for core shell one.
When i take measurement at different temperatures for a nanoparticle which has no temperature response, nothing happens significantly. However for core shell one, i see decreasing in size first then as i increase the temperature more, i see the agglomeration.
