We know that ethics is applied philosophy. African ethics has it's core in Ubuntu, which was shared with the world by both Nelson Mandela and Archbishops Tutu. Not only does it recognise human dignity as key to a 'well lived life', but it is also centred on justice and forgiveness. It dispenses with the Western concept of egoism as it understands the self through the 'other'.
The question needs to be more specific. There isn't only one kind of African ethics and there isn't only one kind of Western ethics. There is diversity within both.
