I have some Middle Ordovician brachiopod-sponge-(microbial?) reefs in the western North China Platform. Many of brachipods are preserved in situ, and it seems that they are the main reef-builders (possibly as frame-builder), with sponges encrusting on them.

I looked for references with reef-building brachiopods, but could not find many. It seems that brachiopods commonly lived within reefs as dwellers, but not as reef-builders. However, many texts say that brachiopods commonly built reefs during the Paleozoic, without citing references.

If any of you have some good references showing frame-building brachiopods, would you introduce them to me? It will be very much helpful. Thanks!
