The mortality rates in African has been relatively lower compared to developed countries in Europe or even USA. What did African do right or they dodge the Covid-19 bullet?
Firstly it is due to low testing and under-reporting, because i believed there are many people roaming the streets of Africa with the virus. The second thing is that I think Africans have a kind of self-healing immune. In as much as people roam the streets of Africa with the virus, many of these people I believed were able to heal themselves due to their immunity. Don't forget many Africans had been suffering from one diseases or the other such as malaria and became healed without taking any drugs or visiting the hospital. If this happens to people of the western countries, they might die.
Not fully dodging, I believe. There is the incapability in regards to healthcare settings, overall economy, and transparency. Moreover, Hot climate is unfavorable to spread COVID, also. Article Stability of SARS-CoV-2 and other coronaviruses in the envir...
The international mobility is restricted in African countries.Less travelers go international destination, hence less infection. And may be the immunity is better than american
COVID-19 pandemic and Africa: South Africa as the new epicenter
Although COVID-19 pandemic was appearing to take pity on the hapless African countries, South Africa now is becoming the epicenter of the pandemic and according of the confirmed cases it is now at number 16 in the world statistics.
Africa is not adversely affected by the COVID-19 (Chinese virus) unlike USA. However, the limited infection witnessed in Africa in a country like Nigeria was heavily shrouded in secrecy, politics, and corruption. I must congratulate Madagascar or Malagasy for their famous and efficacious COVID-19 (Chinese virus) medicine.
The connection between the african countries is poor nowadays, and the interaction in commerce basis is not as sophisticated as in other countries. Is easier to restrict the entrance of people, goods and products in Africa because the distance between countries is greater. Now, Africa is a continent with more experience in pandemics, having suffering the likes of Ebola or Chikunguya. How to face the new coronavirus -with no doubts- comes easier than how to do a good management with a deadlier virus.
Many African nations have longstanding localized community health service administrations in place to detect, confine and support communities for such reasons as Ebola, Aids and such like. Given these imbedded systems, I reason that detecting, confining and supporting COVID victims using these localized administrations supported in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and so reducing the number of deaths. Other nations could learn a lot from these localized systems.
On the contrary, am persuaded to believe that Africa has no adequate facilities and capacities to fully test covid - 19, much as the United States implying that Africa suffers under reporting as compared to the developed economies, the US included...this may present a false scenario that incidences of the pandemic are lower than the rates in the West...
The attached article on the “Strong correlation between prevalence of severe vitamin D deficiency and population mortality rate from COVID19 in Europe” is quite revealing.
Europe faced a big blow during the winter period. Africa is one fortunate continent with very mild winters and more sunshine. Natural vitamin D is in plenty. Would this be a factor leading to less cases of COVID19?
Early comparisons between the number of confirmed cases in the worst affected European countries and the West African countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases do not support the hypothesis that the virus will spread more slowly in countries with warmer climates. In the case of West Africa, a rapid acceleration in the number of cases could quickly overwhelm already vulnerable health systems.
Its too early to come to a conclusion. But lets hope its true because most developing countries are already battling the neglected tropical diseases topped with the menace of undernutrition. SARS-cov2 will add fuel to that fire and make things worse for developing nations with meagre public health infrastructure.
With plenty of sunshine and vitamin D that boost immunity many people here in some African countries believe that the COVID-19 is to a large extent a disease of the temperate regions of the world.
