Yes, it did. I was on the job market at the time, and the crisis made it virtually impossible to procure a tenure-track job for AY 2008-09. The crisis wiped out most of the jobs in philosophy and religion that would have normally been available for the upcoming academic year. I had to settle for a one-year visiting position instead.

I do not agree with the term "World financial crisis", so I cannot really answer this question. Reproducing the established information; in example " wiki : The financial crisis of 2007–2008, also known as the global financial crisis and the 2008 financial crisis, is considered by many economists to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s" means that I accept that the world faced in fact a global crisis. The world is not G7 nor the Capital. Apparently the wealthy used this "crisis" to increase their wealth. We need to be concrete if, "economics" wants to be a Science. We are not in middle ages. If, we do not agree with a system we replace it. Democracy is an invention, which permits to overcome the “Crisis”.

@Aurelio, I appreciate your effort to make a tabulation and try to understand the consequences people have faced from what you call "2008 crisis". The problem is that what you call a crisis could be in fact a social crime and you need to change your questions and tabulations; 2nd ww produced a crisis and the great depression originating in the United States produced also a crisis. Yes, 2nd ww continues to affect my life and your life. Make a tabulation will not change the situation. Understanding and reacting will make the system to overpass any crisis and, might not need this kind of tabulation. regards, vassilis.

I had to change jobs and commute long distance in old age eventually resulting in voluntary retirement at age 69 years later. Before the crisis we bought a smaller home in a more prosperous community. Also we decreased our other spending, and I learned some new job skills and qualifications. Researchers should be aware that crises are created, and more than once, not by chance.

My salary and that of my wife have been stagnant since 2009. Moreover, in general all taxes and costs of services have increased, in particular university fees have increased by about 50% (I have two university children). So the purchasing power of my family has decreased significantly year after year. So my family is on average poorer than before 2009.

Yes, the crisis hit many countries. My parents (both - Heads of Laboratories, Professors) lost almost all their life savings.

The things went crazy - 20-25 y.o. children became the main supporters in many families. As to my "nuclear family" - fortunately we have endured this crisis quite safely because at that time as invited Research Scientist I have been doing research in Japan.

Is it a cyclical event that we have this financial crisis or of some sorts from 1987/1988 -> 1997/1998 --> 2007/2008?

R.: As much as I know, it´s cyclical, but not exactly involving decades and/or specific years. It depends on Business Cycles (cycles of expansion and retraction of the economy by various reasons - internal and external affairs influence this.

How about 2017/2018?

R.: Well, what crisis exactly are you referring to? We have some crisis, but not a financial/economical one. It´s more behavioral, I think!

Is there any formula/equation with empirical evidence to predict such cyclical event?

Not, as much as I know. There are some tentatives, but I am not able to mention since I don´t know the precedence.

Yes. The collapse of communism 1989 was connected to a debt problem, e.g. after travelling to the US in 1988, the communist leader of Hungary (K. Grosz) was told that he will receive no more loans. The attached paper (moneto-physics) starts in the 1990s and sees the end of year 2000 as financially decisive; 2008 is what followed in the time series. Conclusion: the quantitity of fiat credit money does not behave neutral to our 'economic health'.
