I´m making a determination by titration of the povidone- iodine content of an ointment as a second component carrying Eugenol, due to the interference of the second additive thought to perform this analysis by HPLC but I don´t know cause my product it´s a complex mix of oil too so i need to perform sample preparation allowed me to assay. I wonder if anyone knows a method or sample preparation that allows me to make this determination?

we had the estimation of iodine by back tritration method in lab for ug students. i think it is possible to workout as your required estimation without go for sofisticated instrumentation techniques. At the same time it may little erros arise due to evolvation of iodine, but it will be minimized by T test method. The procedure is only for iodine estimation, just freely available in google or wiki pedia search. but i do not know it will reliable for your work. i cold help by the procedure for I2 analysis in iodimetry titration method. Any feed back is on your tiration procedure coment it.
if you only interest in iodine, then is ion chromatography the best choise. But you have to think about the sample preparation. If you look to the site of ''metrohm', I think you can get your answer.
Hari thanks, by titration i have a big problem wth the oil part of my product, it´s almost imposible to see the change of color or equivalent point cause my liquid solution is just white. I think I have to do something different.. I will let you know if I find another method. Thank you very much.
K. Put pinch of cu salt and digested in little acid you will observed colour chages. No problem better find out other good methods. All the best
