In multi component phase diagrams (5 or more), there are certain phases. How can I determine various properties and behaviors such as thermophysical properties, mechanical etc.
I do have some idea of getting information on phases but no idea of their properties. Are there any standard book or database where to look for properties?
Some model of mechanical properties measurement is included in mode named PeekForce AFM. Hardness (nano) may be measured with Hysitron nanotester. Of course - I shoot in the dark, not knowing the size of phases.
This probably requires a Web, literature, and handbook search on the properties of materials by composition and structure.
KBC offers a software product called MutiFlash that can handle up to 7 distinct phases. I have attached a link. I hope it helps.
If I were to make my own database, it would take alot more time than it should actually be. I can prepare (verify also existing) data (properties) on individual phases (intermetallics, compounds etc.) through XRD, AFM, SKFEM etc. The latter equipment, I recently came across for corrosion properties. But, how about density, Cp, G, H, conductivity, resistivity and so on. If I start preparing this database, I cannot prepare target alloy, thus graduate.
NASA has material database which is accessible to only U.S academic institutions. I think this is quite valuable and may act as single materials source for all researchers. Furthermore, quite advantageous to compare researches between institutions.
@RM: MultiFlash seems only for organic (hydrocarbon) materials.
