I've seen your interesting project on paleoseismology and I'd like to offer you my contribute (if you need and like) to it through dendrochronological dating of morphological features (scarps, active fault line, landslides) linked to earthquakes.

Dear Dr. Fantucci
I am happy to see your message again. Of course, I have interesting to your dendrochronological dating in landslides. Although I have readed some references about dating in landslide, there still have a need to better understand your work to me.
At present, one of my studied topics is focusing on the 1920 Haiyuan earthquake-triggered loess flow slides, but I did not see the large trees on my concerned three landslides.
We will carry out a detailed field investigation for in-situ engineering geomorphological mapping and ERT in this summer. I will pay close attention to your interestings, and may send some informations to you such as tree photos. I know that there has a old live tree which was splitted two parts during Haiyuan earthquake.
If you have interestings on earthquake-loess landslides, we could find an appropriate opportunity for joint research. As we are planning to apply a large funding (Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China) about earthquake-loess landslides. This summer, we can got its result.
I will come back to Chongqing home for our Chinese New Year tomorrow, and leave for my wife' Xinjiang home on 31 January. This is a “trouble ^_^” Chinese tradition for seeing our elders.

Dear Fanyu I'll be really very glad to partecipate to some of your project on landslide/earthquake projects there in China. It sounds interesting, we could work both on active fault lines as well as on landslides. Hi Rosanna, I am perhaps more interested in climate trends, and I use this opportunity to ask if you know of any work on queñuales (Polylepis spp.), as it seems it is the only tree that grows in the semiarid Andes. We are trying to track the LIA in the arid Andes and I believe queñuales are perhaps a good proxy. What do you think?

Hi Juan Pablo I will control about the possibility to use this species and if it could be dated with dendrochronology. Do you have any cross section of the trunks ?

Hi Rosana, unfortunately I do not have a section of that tree, but sampling should be not destructive, given the fact there are so few living trees in the southern altiplano. According to some authors is the tree withn growth rings growing highest in the world (http://danielsalmoral.com/2016/12/17/quenoas-los-raros-arboles-la-puna-peligro-extincion-ricardo-alonso/), and attempts to dendrochonological studies have been made in a closely related tree, the tabaquillo of central Argentina (http://www.conicet.gov.ar/new_scp/detalle.php?keywords=&id=23944&inst=yes&congresos=yes&detalles=yes&congr_id=1631557).
