How are your data placed in the file?

Is it one row per protein? And the condtion-related data (TRUE/FALSE or 1/0?) are place in four cells in the row (one cell for one condition)? If so, maybe try Excel's filtering features?

Anja Krivograd , Excel should be powerful enough to do what you need to do. I suggest using pivot tables and then filter the conditions you want to filter.

Przemysław Kowalik Excel filtering features are not detailed enough, I tried already. So I have one row per protein, containing normalized protein abundances in all 4 breeding conditions and I have 4 replicates per condition. It happens that in some replicates there is no value, eg. protein undetected. What I want to do is to extract those proteins which do not appear in all replicates under specific condition. I already hand-picked those and narrowed them down to 100 candidates. Of those, some are still present in one of the 4 replicates and I now want the ones who are really completely absent in all replicates under a certain condition.

Anja Krivograd , probably you will need to use some text functions to separate the replicates in different columns, then create an indicator variable (column) for the conditions you are interested, and later use that indicator column as a filter.

So, for each protein you have 16 data entries: 4 conditions with 4 replicates for each condition. Are they stored in 16 cells in a row or in some other way?
