Do you mean that plot patterns should be mapped digitally? I remember a book identification service a while back which searched for similar books. It was called BookLamp (there was also something called "the book genome project"), as I recall, and their technology was sold and integrated elsewhere. If you knew a book you liked, it would suggest many similar books. If I today use a google n-gram I can already trace individual words across the years, measure their popularity etc. In the past, Ian Watt and other speculated about the rise of the novel. I may be mistaken in my previous answer. I said we will not see novels produced by AI in my lifetime. Unfortunately , some progress has been made and the newspapers now say teachers worry about exam cheating in essays.
