Kindly, may I ask you some questions about the RIS design
In simulation program, like CST, I utilized a Floquet port (Zmax) to calculate S11 or S22. Are they necessary to be the same? (which one should be calculated?)
Also, I examined the field patten using horn antenna. (Any other methods to obtain the far field?)
The run time using unit cell boundary condition with waveguide port in horn, takes very long time (12 hours for only 2*2 RIS)!!!
How far away should I place the horn from the RIS? (if the RIS should be placed at the focal length of the horn, how I can calculate it? )
Is it necessary to design large RIS to capture the dynamic beamforming capability?
I need to know the setup solver domain, boundary conditions, and type of port that should I utilized.

If your design is a reflecting surface then you may need only the S11 phase and magnitude plots to study (transmission will be negligible assuming you have a ground plane at the back). For unit cell analysis you may use the frequency domain solver with unitcell boundary conditions. The ports will be floquet ports by default. Make sure you do phase correction before starting the simulation.
When you are trying to simulate an array, use plane wave excitation for bistatic analysis. That might be faster than simulating with a horn antenna. And if you want to introduce a horn antenna, use time domain solver, without unit cell boundary conditions.
PS: You have to create a bigger array than 2x2 for noticeable performance.
Flokit port use only single unit cell boundry condition unit cell and z is open boundry and frequency domain
My question is that when we add a rise surface on the plane wave here, why does S11 not show the parameters and not S11, its phase and how to see S11
