22 January 2023 2 9K Report

On 30 November 2020 the European Medicines Agency identified a risk that one or more of the Animal Products used in making the BioNTech Pfizer jabs could cause Prion Disease

1] Proteinase K used in Drug Substance manufacturing

2] Lysogeny Broth used in the establishment of the pST4-1525 Master Cell Bank and Working Cell Bank

The risk was "deemed minimal". This section was removed from subsequent EMA documents but subsequent updates carried over the abbreviations Table which listed:

BSE = Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathies

TSE = Transmitting/Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies

Are there other examples where the Animal Products have been shown to cause Prion Disease?

How can Prion contamination be identifed in the manufacturing process and the vaccines?
