Does it need E2 supplements and matrigel? How long would it take for the tumor to appear?
BT20 is a very good cell line to grow in vivo. We have done many experiments with this cell line in Xenografts. It doesnt need E2 supplements. We do use HC Matrigel (50:50) for sub cutaneous injection. In our experiemts it took roughly 3-4 weeks , post injection, for the tumours to reach treatable sizes. Hope this helps
Karen - Do you use nude mice or skid? Also, how many cells? I'm using nudes and tried 5 million cells in matrigel. The tumors are growing, but not fast enough for the bosses. Thanks.
I believe MDA-MB-453 might meet your desired traits, but I would double check. We've done MDA-MB-453 xenografts commercially (http://altogenlabs.com/xenograft-models/breast-cancer-xenograft/mda-mb-453-xenograft-model/) using matrigel but no estrogen pellets (as it is triple-negative for estrogen). The growth curves are rather unique (you can find some on our website) but they do suffice for most research purposes.
