I am working with eggplant fruit and shoot borer, Leucinodes orbonalis since three years. For its management in the context of Nepal, Spinosad, Chlorantraniliprole found to be effective. Leucin-lure works in some extent.Tozen (http://www.totalagricare.in/prod/herbal-products/) works well but I have doubt in its chemical constitutes. If you more suggestions regarding botanicals, bio-pesticides, safer pesticides or any other innovative method, will be highly welcomed.
Egg parasitoid Trichogramma chelonis works well agains FSB in egg plants.About a lakh eggs are to be released at weekly interval. You have start this exercise with notice of the damage in shoots. We are standardizing the traps also. Soil application of neem cake (minimum 50 kg/ha) will contain the pest perpetuation.

1) Regular Pruning of side shoots during entire cropping period helps in curbing shoot damage effectively. Pruning also helps to increase tillering resulting in more number of small marketable fruits, helps sprays to reach fruits and reduces population as eggs on the leaves and shoots are destroyed. .
2) Initiate sprays targeting small fruits.
3) Do not allow dumping infested fruits in vicinity.
4) Covering field with insect net is the best solution among all.
Install Pheromone traps @ 40 traps/ ha for mass trapping of Shoot and Fruit borer adults so that further generation can be interrupted. Parasitoid Trathella flavoorbitalis works well. Use neem based insecticides. Grow Round Fruiting varieties instead of oblong fruiting varieties.
