One of the classics of Canadian sociology is Crestwood Heights: A Study of the Culture of Suburban Life by John R. Seeley, R. Aleander Sim, and Elizabeth W. Loosley, in collaboration with Norman W. Bell and D. F. Fleming (Toronto: University of Toronto Press, 1956). The back of its cover clearly states, "A team of social scientists has reported on several years' study of the suburb they have called 'Crestwood Heights' in a volume that is a valuable contribution to our knowledge of community life and to a better understanding of some of the beliefs, values, and behaviour of middle-class people..."
