I`m preparing block copolymer . hydrophobic part is polyflourinatedpolyphenylether and the hydrophilic part if polyphenylene. I tried to cast the polymer to get the membrane but the membrane was cracked. Although the polymer is high molecular weight. I tried to change the temperature of casting, the concentration and the solves like DMSO, TCE, NMP but it failed. Have you any Idea about the best method for casting of that polymer?
I prepared the same polymer befor with lower Mwt and succeeded in casting by TCE at 45oC.

You may consider the impact of an increase in PDI (polydispersity index) which may result in some phase separation of polymers. Also, if an increase in crosslinking or chain entanglements may be the cause of the micro cracks in the membrane surface.
Thank you all, But HFIP and HFA are very expensive for me and I can`t use.

Thank you Dr. Fan, but which is the better temperature to evaporate that mixture NMP DMAc and which percent of each component.
I think you can use THF but first check the solibility and THF is not costly. Secondly, solvent casting is the good and easy method for polymer casting.
I tried all the mentioned solutions but they failed. The problem still exist. If some one is interested.
