A retention appliance was designed to be assisted by the

mini screw implants used to intrude upper molars. After we had achieved molar intrusion with these implants

(TADs), we made sure that they were well maintained

for further use. Then, we fabricated the so-called Active Retainer, which is a clear retention appliance with buttons

attached to the buccal side of the maxillary molar

positions to provide sites where they can hook to the

mini screw implants by using elastics ). This appliance

is expected to effectively prevent the eruption

of intruded maxillary molars.
